Hology Engine has received many new features and improvements since the last update.
Rendering Improvements
- Added "Toggle stats panel" in the main menu to display rendering statistics:
- FPS
- CPU and GPU time
- Memory consumption
- Draw calls
- Improved rendering performance:
- Optimized meshes with multiple materials for fewer draw calls
- Enabled more meshes to take advantage of GPU instancing
- Updated ThreeJs version to 0.169.0
- Added support for texture assets with compressed texture format KTX2
- Introduced "Unlit" material type option in the material asset editor for purely emissive objects
Landscape Enhancements
- Adjust landscape resolution after initial creation to enable
- Smoother surfaces
- Finer control of the height map
- Improved vertex painting
- Added ability to paint holes in landscapes. Perfect for creating caves.
- Added a new landscape material type to so you can paint different colors.
Development Tools
- Added ability to open Chromium dev tools in the editor for:
- Debugging actor code
- Accessing other dev tools like profiling
Shader Support
- Custom TypeScript shaders now support:
- BatchedMesh
- Skinning
