Hology Engine Update - 0.0.41


Hology Engine has received many new features and improvements since the last update. 

Rendering Improvements

  • Added "Toggle stats panel" in the main menu to display rendering statistics:
    • FPS
    • CPU and GPU time
    • Memory consumption
    • Draw calls
  • Improved rendering performance:
    • Optimized meshes with multiple materials for fewer draw calls
    • Enabled more meshes to take advantage of GPU instancing
  • Updated ThreeJs version to 0.169.0
  • Added support for texture assets with compressed texture format KTX2
  • Introduced "Unlit" material type option in the material asset editor for purely emissive objects

Landscape Enhancements

  • Adjust landscape resolution after initial creation to enable
    • Smoother surfaces
    • Finer control of the height map
    • Improved vertex painting
  • Added ability to paint holes in landscapes. Perfect for creating caves.
  • Added a new landscape material type to so you can paint different colors. 

Development Tools

  • Added ability to open Chromium dev tools in the editor for:
    • Debugging actor code
    • Accessing other dev tools like profiling

Shader Support

  • Custom TypeScript shaders now support:
    • BatchedMesh
    • Skinning
